Here is a random thought of a bathroom phobia that I have had for ever. Wondering if you have the same kind of thing. When randomly thinking of this, it just makes me go hmmmmm..
I take care of my dad. He's 88 and has a hard time walking. To get him out for an outing, it is easiest to take him a certain store in town because they have an eatery in there. The usual routine is we walk in, it take him to the eatery and get him his coffee and snacks. I use the restroom, go grab the items I need, pay for it then go back to the eatery and finish his break with him which usually involves of me getting a drink and snack with him.
Here is where the phobia comes in. When I leave the restroom, the door opens in. So I don't want to touch the handle because I hear people leave the bathroom without washing their hands. I grab a paper towel, open the door, hold the door wide open with my foot so I can get as close to the trash can as possible, make a ball with the paper towel and toss it for 2 points score! Then I go on to shop. Feeling hands clean!! Yeah!! I made it. Off to gather the items I need.
While shopping, I am handeling items, taking, putting back, moving, picking items off floor, (worked retail most my life LOL), pay for my purchase then back to the eatery. Have you figured out where this is heading to?
I pay for my coffee and a small snack of some sort and sit with my dad. We visit then we leave for the car.
Please tell me why I have a BATHROOM DOOR HANDLE PHOBIA when I handled all those items, handled dirty items from floor, handled my purse (which they say are one the dirtyest item for girls, handled dirty money which even the cashier touches your hand when she places change in it, AND STILL ATE MY SNACK WITHOUT USEING A WIPY????!!!!!!!!!!! I never see anyone in the eatery using wipes but you hear moms say "don't eat that it fell on the floor!!" LOL!! Just makes me go hmmmmmm..
